All about Durham Tees Valley Airport

Dating back to 1941, the airport was originally an RAF station but then became Teesside International in 1964. In 2004 the airport was renamed Durham Tees Valley Airport as part of a major redevelopment plan. The name came about to allow it to be placed better geographically, as many international passengers were unfamiliar with the location of Teesside and Durham is more well-known.

Getting There

Although Durham Tees Airport has Teesside Train Station close by, services to the station are extremely limited and the airport is a 15 minute walk from the station with little to no public transport connecting the two. A number of bus services operate between the surrounding areas and the airport. Driving to Durham Tees Airport is the easiest and least stressful way to reach the airport, coupled with an APH airport car park, you’ll be at the check-in desks in no time at all. 

Directions

Access the airport from either the A19 or the A1(M). On the A19 take the exit for A66 and follow signs to the airport. When travelling on the A1(M) take junction 59 and head for A167 when approaching from the North. Similarly, take junction 57 and head towards A66 when travelling from the South.

On Arrival

Simply Park & Fly Ltd does not take vehicles from any airport, instead the service provider (see below) looks after the vehicle, while parked in their secured car park compound. You need to follow the instructions below for Park and Ride/ Meet and Greet service on your departure and return day. All the instruction (telephone number as well) will be sent to your email account once the booking is made. NOTE: It’s illegal to use phone while driving. It is the responsibilty of the driver/customer to follow the UK Driving and transport LAW and stop at a safer place to make or take a call.​

• On-airport self park car park. Located within the airport complex this car park is only a short walk from the terminal.
• No transfers required. The car park is well lit with high security fencing and 24 hour CCTV surveillance.
• Upon arrival at the airport please follow the instructions below for entry & exit procedures.

Directions:

Travelling from Darlington: Follow A67 towards Yarm, the airport is sign posted from this road.

Travelling from North or South: Follow A1 (M) or A19. If approaching from A1(M) or from Stockton-on-Tees use A66. Airport is signposted from this road.

Not withstanding any pre-booking made, any vehicle parked in incorrect carpark will be charged at full rate applicable.

By making this booking you agree that on exit you will pay any additional charges whether incurred as a consequence of parking in wrong carpark or parking beyond prepaid period & that carpark will deduct charge from your debit/credit card.

Stay_Restrictions:

• Minimum stay/charges may apply at this car park at certain times of the year.
• With its close location this car park is ideal for short break or longer stays.
• Assistance is available for disabled drivers and passengers.

On Return

• On return press the help button on the exit barrier & quote booking reference number. The barrier will be raised.
• The customer can amend a Flexible booking 48hrs before the departure day. No return date will be modified once the vehicle has been dropped off with the service provider. If the customer stays longer than pre-booked days, then he/she will incur an additional charge as per the standard tariff for the carpark. The customer will be prompted for an extra payment at the exit barrier in case of Park and Ride / On Airport Parking and will be need to pay using the Chip & Pin device. In case of Meet and Greet, the customer will be charged by the driver on the return day.
